Human beings are not perfect and neither is the music we make. Imperfection is the characteristic that brings the music we hear to life.

On Sunday, July 2, 2023, I played a 5 hour live electronics set at Bump 'n Grind's Analog Market in Silver Spring, MD. "Live at Analog Market (7-2-2023)" features a few passages I recorded during that set. As you will hear in the recording, I made plenty of mistakes. I have broken up the recording in such a way that those mistakes are highlighted.

Every artist makes mistakes. An artist's taste evolves as they absorb more art and incorporate aspects of external art into what they create themselves. Absorbing external art and learning from mistakes when creating our own art are two key ingredients needed to grow artistically. Sometimes artists highlight the work they are most proud of and hide the rest, but doing this omits important chapters in the story of how they became the artist they are today. Revealing these formative chapters give those who are observing the art deeper insight into the artist who created what they are taking in. Contemplating earlier chapters in an artist's work can inspire the appreciators of art.

I'm opening the door so you can come and listen to an early iteration of my live electronics set. Similar to the live sets I perform with b_x_r_n_x_r_d as Smoke & Tea, my live sets are improvised.
